Remembrance Day 2011

11 November is arguably one of the most significant days on the Australian calendar. In 1918, the Armistice was signed – a document that signalled the end of hostilities in World War One. In 1945, the Australian and British Governments changed the name of Armistice Day to Remembrance Day – a day when all soldiers killed or injured at war would be remembered. To coincide with the signing of the original Armistice document at 11:00am, one minute silence is observed every year “at the eleventh hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month”.
This year, 2011, had special significance because Remembrance Day was celebrated on 11/11/11.

94.1FM 3WBC is proud to present "Australia Remembers 11/11/11" in tribute to the thousands of men and women who left the security of their homes and families to serve, suffer and in so many cases die, protecting our way of life.

"Australia Remembers 11/11/11", researched, written and presented by Keith Dunn, is a collection of sixteen personal reflections and insights into Australia’s military history, and are available for download from this page for personal use or broadcast by non-commercial organisations through November and December. 94.1FM 3WBC would appreciate appropriate acknowledgement of Keith’s work and our radio station when used publicly.
