Boumann selected by Hawthorn in Trade Week

MEDIA RELEASE
Monday 17 October 2011

Box Hill Hawks key defender Jarrad Boumann has been selected by Hawthorn Football Club on the final day of Trade Week.

Boumann, who last week finished third in Box Hill Hawks Best and Fairest behind Sam Gibson and David Mirra, was traded from Greater Western Sydney for Hawthorn’s pick 56 in a deal that also saw Jordan Lisle traded to Brisbane Lions.

This selection was completed under the list establishment rules put in place for Greater Western Sydney, which allows that club to pre-list 10 players who had previously nominated for the AFL Draft, or were previously listed with an AFL club.

Boumann, who spent three years with the Western Bulldogs from 2008 to 2010 came to Box Hill Hawks for the 2011VFL season.

Box Hill Hawks Senior Coach Damian Carroll was thrilled for Jarrad getting another chance at AFL level. “Jarrad has been sensational for us this season on the field, which everyone sees but off the field he has worked really hard to improve his skills and as a result he gets a second chance at AFL level” said Carroll. “It is a great advertisement the program at Box Hill Hawks with another player getting onto an AFL list”.

With Hawthorn being Box Hill Hawks’ VFL aligned partner Boumann will continue playing for Box Hill when he is not selected with Hawthorn.
